Bose 301 Series II bookshelf speakers, pair

The 301 is Bose's long-lived bookshelf speaker and Series II pairs still sell steadily to people building a cheap stereo or garage system. Working drivers and intact surrounds matter far more than cabinet cosmetics.

Estimated resale range (used)

$60 – $150

A ballpark, not a quote. Condition moves this number a lot, and so does who turns up to buy it. It isn't an appraisal and it isn't a dealer's offer.

What matters when you check it

  • Press gently on each woofer cone and look for cracked or crumbling foam surrounds, common at this age.
  • Test both speakers at low and high volume through a known-good amplifier and listen for rattle from the tweeter or rear port.
  • Check cabinet corners for dents and water swelling, and confirm both grilles and badges are present.

Where the number comes from

Watching what these go for, not a record of sales. The range is a judgement call from what the same thing fetches secondhand. When an item has real sources behind it, they'll be printed here with the date they were checked.

Before you sell anything, look at sold prices rather than asking prices. Asking prices are wishes; sold prices are evidence.
