Vintage wooden croquet set with stand, 8 mallets
Old wooden croquet sets sell as lawn games and as porch decor, with complete sets in a carry stand doing best. Missing wickets, split mallets or a cracked stand turn a good set into a pile of parts.
Estimated resale range (used)
$20 – $50
A ballpark, not a quote. Condition moves this number a lot, and so does who turns up to buy it. It isn't an appraisal and it isn't a dealer's offer.
What matters when you check it
- Count the mallets, balls and wickets and check that the set is complete for the number of players
- Inspect the mallet heads and handles for splits, loose fits and rot at the ends
- Check the stand or box for broken joints, and look for the maker's label
Where the number comes from
Watching what these go for, not a record of sales. The range is a judgement call from what the same thing fetches secondhand. When an item has real sources behind it, they'll be printed here with the date they were checked.
Before you sell anything, look at sold prices rather than asking prices. Asking prices are wishes; sold prices are evidence.
