Vintage pressed-back oak rocking chair with arms
A solid oak rocker with the pressed, carved back panel, the kind that sat on a porch for forty years. Ordinary oak rockers do not bring much, but a tight one with a decent finish sells to people furnishing a cabin or a nursery.
Estimated resale range (used)
$40 – $110
A ballpark, not a quote. Condition moves this number a lot, and so does who turns up to buy it. It isn't an appraisal and it isn't a dealer's offer.

What matters when you check it
- Rock it and check the runners for cracks and the leg joints for wobble, since loose rockers are the usual repair
- Look over the finish for sun bleaching, water rings and paint spatter, all hard to undo on oak
- Check the seat surface and whether the arms are tight, and look underneath for a maker's stamp
Where the number comes from
Watching what these go for, not a record of sales. The range is a judgement call from what the same thing fetches secondhand. When an item has real sources behind it, they'll be printed here with the date they were checked.
Before you sell anything, look at sold prices rather than asking prices. Asking prices are wishes; sold prices are evidence.
