A thick horror novel that sells steadily in used book lots and individually. Condition matters less than completeness, but early Signet printings and clean spines do better. Ex-library copies and water-damaged books are hard to sell.

What matters when you check it
- Check the spine for heavy creasing, lean, loose pages, and cracked hinges.
- Look for water stains, mold, or a strong musty smell that will not air out.
- Note the publisher and printing if advertising it as a vintage Signet edition.
