What matters when you check it
- Hold it up to a window and check for moth holes, especially along the collar, cuffs and underarm seams
- Confirm the size and fabric content on the side-seam label — older labels and 'virgin wool' markings date the shirt
- Note whether the original buttons are all present and whether the shirt has been shrunk or felted by washing
