Levi's 501 straight leg jeans, made in USA, 1990s
American-made 501s from the 1980s and 90s sell well above new price when the size is desirable and the denim is intact. Buyers want to see the red tab, the two-horse patch and a clear photo of the care tag.
Estimated resale range (used)
$40 – $90
A ballpark, not a quote. Condition moves this number a lot, and so does who turns up to buy it. It isn't an appraisal and it isn't a dealer's offer.
What matters when you check it
- Photograph the care label and any stamped numbers inside the waistband to pin down the factory and date.
- Measure the waist and inseam flat rather than trusting the tag; old denim shrinks and sizing runs odd.
- Check for blown knees, crotch wear, hem fraying and ink stains, and disclose any repairs.
Where the number comes from
Watching what these go for, not a record of sales. The range is a judgement call from what the same thing fetches secondhand. When an item has real sources behind it, they'll be printed here with the date they were checked.
Before you sell anything, look at sold prices rather than asking prices. Asking prices are wishes; sold prices are evidence.
