Mid-century walnut nightstand, single drawer, 1960s
A single-drawer walnut nightstand is one of the easiest pieces to sell out of a cleared bedroom because it doubles as a side table. Solid walnut and tapered legs lift the price, while veneer chips and water rings pull it down.
Estimated resale range (used)
$40 – $120
A ballpark, not a quote. Condition moves this number a lot, and so does who turns up to buy it. It isn't an appraisal and it isn't a dealer's offer.
What matters when you check it
- Slide the drawer all the way in and out and check the bottom and runners for separation or swelling.
- Look across the top for water rings, deep scratches and lifting veneer, especially along the front edge.
- Photograph the back and the underside of the legs so buyers can see whether there is a maker's mark or solid wood.
Where the number comes from
Watching what these go for, not a record of sales. The range is a judgement call from what the same thing fetches secondhand. When an item has real sources behind it, they'll be printed here with the date they were checked.
Before you sell anything, look at sold prices rather than asking prices. Asking prices are wishes; sold prices are evidence.
