Hohner Marine Band harmonica in C with case

The standard wooden-comb blues harmonica, often found in a drawer or instrument case. Clean, playable examples in the common key of C sell steadily; swollen combs and corroded reeds turn them into parts.

Estimated resale range (used)

$15 – $35

A ballpark, not a quote. Condition moves this number a lot, and so does who turns up to buy it. It isn't an appraisal and it isn't a dealer's offer.

What matters when you check it

  • Take the covers off or peer inside — green corrosion on the brass reeds or a swollen, rough wooden comb means it needs work
  • Check the cover plates for dents and the stamped key marking, usually a C on the end
  • Look for the original red and yellow box, which adds a few dollars and helps it sell
  • Test that every hole sounds by drawing and blowing gently — a dead reed is the most common failure

Where the number comes from

Watching what these go for, not a record of sales. The range is a judgement call from what the same thing fetches secondhand. When an item has real sources behind it, they'll be printed here with the date they were checked.

Before you sell anything, look at sold prices rather than asking prices. Asking prices are wishes; sold prices are evidence.
