Disney VHS tapes, lot of 20, 1990s clamshell cases
Boxes of Disney VHS tapes turn up in almost every attic and most are worth very little, whatever the rumours say. Factory-sealed tapes and the early clamshell releases are the ones to check; opened, played tapes sell only as a bulk lot.
Estimated resale range (used)
$12 – $35
A ballpark, not a quote. Condition moves this number a lot, and so does who turns up to buy it. It isn't an appraisal and it isn't a dealer's offer.
What matters when you check it
- Separate out any factory-sealed tapes first, since sealed copies sell for many times the price of opened ones.
- Check for mould, water damage and chewed tape at the window, and skip anything stored damp.
- Compare titles against known first-release and withdrawn lists before assuming a tape is rare, because most are not.
Where the number comes from
Watching what these go for, not a record of sales. The range is a judgement call from what the same thing fetches secondhand. When an item has real sources behind it, they'll be printed here with the date they were checked.
Before you sell anything, look at sold prices rather than asking prices. Asking prices are wishes; sold prices are evidence.
