Abu Garcia Ambassadeur 5500 C3 baitcasting reel
The 5500 C3 is a workhorse round baitcaster that still has a following among anglers. Reels that cast smoothly with a clean drag sell well; corroded or grinding ones are parts reels and priced that way.
Estimated resale range (used)
$50 – $95
A ballpark, not a quote. Condition moves this number a lot, and so does who turns up to buy it. It isn't an appraisal and it isn't a dealer's offer.
What matters when you check it
- Turn the handle and thumb the spool in free-spool; grinding, roughness or a sticky drag means it needs service
- Look for corrosion and pitting on the side plates and frame, common on reels that sat in a garage
- Check that the level wind tracks back and forth freely, and note whether the box, papers and reel tool are included
Where the number comes from
Watching what these go for, not a record of sales. The range is a judgement call from what the same thing fetches secondhand. When an item has real sources behind it, they'll be printed here with the date they were checked.
Before you sell anything, look at sold prices rather than asking prices. Asking prices are wishes; sold prices are evidence.
